Onetwostep Video by Jordan Clarke

I’m fascinated by process - most of the joy that I get from making things comes from experimenting when things click suddenly, those little “a-ha” moments when the fog lifts and the way forward becomes visible. I don’t really believe in divine inspiration - you have to be ready for those windows to open, and that means spending the time to doggedly make a lot of bullshit and see what sticks. Releasing things is an end goal, and it provides and impetus for tinkering but at a certain point you just have to let stuff go.

watching Jordan create the video for “onetwostep” was a fascinating experience - it started with wireframes and storyboards and to be completely honest I had no idea what the end product would feel like, but I trust Jordan and I knew he had a vision. We went back and forth on a lot of minutia (all I can really offer in these situations is personal taste and a second set of eyes), but ultimately this piece only came together through dozens if not hundreds of hours of his time staring at a monitor, slowly bringing a world to life. He’d send me clips of the most incredible shit I’d ever seen and then tell me it was WIP and that the next version would be better..and somehow it always was. The man is a monster. I’m so lucky to work with him.

the point is: Jordan has a process. And it’s different from mine, and I loved watching it happen in real time. If you know Jordan, you know a kind and gentle soul who is curious and dedicated to his craft. His enthusiasm is relentless, and it shows in the work. He’s a genius, in the real sense of the word. I love the guy. and he knows how to make a fucking sick video. I’ve worked with him before, and I hope that I’m lucky enough to make more together in the future. Our work together (I mean his work that I play a small part of) has been getting attention and praise, and I hope that it leads to lots of opportunities for this beautiful guy. I cant wait to see what he does next.
